Viviana Tornatela 2/24/24

Viviana earned the nickname “Slim Reaper” by quietly perfecting her craft, her no nonsense attitude during practice, and her stone cold demeanor during competitions. Viviana has the eye of the tiger, and she loves to run!

Viviana’s commitment to excellence was on full display this entire season. Competing in the 11-12 Girls division she improved her 800m time from 2:49.64 to 2:36.76, and in the 1500m event she improved from 5:41.42 to 5:24.13!

Viviana earned the prestigious title All-American by placing 2nd in the 800m event, and 3rd in the 1500m event at AAU’s Nationals in Virginia Beach 3/2/24 & 3/3/24.

9-10 Girls XC Team 11/3/23

Our 9-10 Girls Cross Country team placed 2nd at the PEX championship meet on 10/28/23. All four athletes are uniquely qualified for this award as individuals, but together they achieved more!

Savannah Layton led the team with a roar at the end of the race capturing 9th place. Gwen Rubin (nicknamed Gritty) gave her all placing 10th. Maria Callahan worked out with the oldest and most experienced athletes on our team - she finished in 11th place, and Arabella Briscoe the youngest of the four girls placed 12th. All four girls finished the race within 1 second of each other and PR’d!

I am proud of the way they trained and the way they competed. Seeing their friendship grow this season brought great joy to our team!

Please join me in celebrating our Founders Award Winners: Savannah, Gwen, Maria, and Arabella !

Tammy Ellis 7/25/23

Tammy’s Love for Our Sport is Second to None -
She qualified for USATF’s National Junior Olympics by placing Top 5 against a fierce 15-16 age division at the Region 2 Championship Meet in Cortland, NY. Tammy PR’d in both of her events; 100m dash time 12.73, and 200m dash time 26.37!

Equally impressive is the way Tammy competed at the 6/24 Garnet Valley High School Meet. She put our team on her back competing in four events, one of them being the 400m. In the pouring rain, Tammy PR’d with a time of 64.13! Tammy’s accomplishments this season are historic. She is our first female athlete to earn this award!

Please join me in celebrating our Founders Award Winner Tammy Ellis!

Founders Award

Christopher Reynolds 2/23/23

Chris has been on a mission the past 12 months -
He improved his 400m time from 69 seconds to 63 seconds last Indoor season. Then during the Summer season he dropped that down to 60 seconds. This year, Chris had an Indoor season best time of 56 seconds! Chris also had a lot of success in the 55, 200, shot put, and as his team’s 4x200m relay anchor.

Chris had fourteen 1st place finishes this season, four 2nd place finishes, and one 3rd place finish. He is our team’s first Quadruple Crown winner, which he did twice this season. Chris was also named Meet MVP for scoring the most points, which helped our boys team win the Fast Fridays Indoor Championship at Glen Mills!

CJ Szafran 2/27/22

None of this exists without CJ. They say God puts people in your life for a reason, and my relationship with CJ and his family is a great example of that saying. Without him, I may have stepped away from coaching, and I would not be involved with USATF. Without him, I would have never met all of the athletes who founded our team. CJ makes me a better person and a better coach. He is a great representation of Godspeed Track & Field.

CJ finished the Indoor Track season earning the prestigious “All-American” designation at USATF’s Nationals on 3/18/22 - Ocean Breeze complex - Staten Island, NY.

CJ placed 2nd in the 1500m with a time of 5:18.48, and 6th place in the 800m with a time of 2:43.49 (9-10 Boys).

Please join me in celebrating our 1st Founders Award Winner CJ Szafran!
