Our History

My first coaching experience began as a request from a family friend. She could tell her son was losing interest in Track, and asked if I would speak with him. We met with his dad and decided the three of us would work together, have fun, and train to win. He is in the record book as an 8th grade Archdiocese of Philadelphia champion for the 400m. He later graduated from the University of Connecticut, and he is a professional tri-athlete.

After many years working in Southern California and attending school at Pepperdine University, I returned to my local parish in Delaware County, PA where I would become the head coach of our CYO Track & Field team. Over the years I have had the honor of coaching many great athletes including one who ran a 4:56 1600m as an 8th grader. He later became the Valedictorian at Springfield High School, and he is currently studying to become an engineer at the University of Pittsburgh.

In 2019, our CYO Cross-Country team was founded, and another great athlete emerged as a champion. In 2021, he and his family committed to training for the USATF Junior Olympics in Jacksonville, FL. As an unattached athlete he had the 3rd fastest, 9 year old, 1500m time 5:22.21. In the fall of 2021, he repeated as the Archdiocese of Philadelphia Cross Country champion, and was 5th place at the Coaches National Youth Championship meet in Paris, Kentucky.

Our Present & Future

Toward the end of the 2021 Cross-Country season, I coached athletes from several local Catholic parishes; as well as, the Archdiocese’s Novice boys team in Paris, Kentucky - We were so excited to win the team bronze medal!

The friendships formed with the families during the Cross-Country postseason sparked an interest in starting a team that would provide Catholic league athletes with greater access to Track and Cross-Country opportunities. Today we are united as Godspeed Track & Field!

All athletes age 6 to 18 are welcome to join us.
